Welcome to the new feature of 2016: #InspiringWomen.
I want this year to be the start of celebrating women, from the J.K. Rowling’s & Jennifer Lawrence’s of this world, to your mum, your sister, your partner. The women who excel, who struggle, who work hard and play harder. I want to show these women just how much we appreciate what they do, and inspire others to follow in their footsteps.
On the 15th of each month, The Bandwagon will publish an interview with an inspiring woman. We have a personal trainer, an author, an artist. We have mums, young women, and the women who inspire us in everyday life. On top of that, I’ll be writing articles based around what I think it means to be a woman, and we’ll be discussing topics such as everyday sexism, fashion, music, body image, and TV. Join in on Twitter, using #InspiringWomen. The first article, ‘So I Got Fat-Shamed‘, which was published on 09/01, was read almost 900 times, and went wild on social media. Sadly, this only highlights the need for such articles and discussions.
In the interest of sisterhood, let’s join together and celebrate being women. Let’s show the women in our lives how much they mean to us. And, to combat the darkness of sexism and oppression, let’s shine bright, and let our actions speak for themselves. To inspiring women!
