Welcome to the Cornish Reading Challenge!
From the 5th of March until the 9th of May, we’ll be reading books related to Cornwall, in order to promote reading and encourage people to fall in love with Cornwall.
I’m so excited to announce the very first (to my knowledge) Cornish Reading Challenge, and am incredibly pleased that so many people are getting involved. Starting on St Piran’s Day and World Book Day, Cornwall and books come together in a celebration of reading and exploring arguably the most beautiful county in the UK (nay, the world!).
With the help of Trip Fiction and Lovereading.co.uk, I’ve compiled a list of book recommendations to get you started. There will be more recommendations as the challenge goes on, so keep checking back if you need inspiration!
Coming up throughout the challenge, we have interviews with authors Liz Fenwick, Jane Johnson and Sharon Tregenza. They’ll also be sharing their own book recommendations.
Thanks to the generosity of so many fantastic authors and Cornish bookshops, we have some exciting books to give away! Watch this space for further details!
I’ll also be updating you all on my own choices, starting with Demelza by Winston Graham, as well as writing blog posts on Cornish books I’ve enjoyed in the past. I’m open to suggestions and submissions too!
If you’d like to share the book(s) you’ll be reading for the challenge, please get in touch. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
